Demystifying a Career in Sports Marketing

April 21st, 2025

This event was a huge success, and it provided such useful and relevant insight into the world of sports marketing. We had two amazing speakers: Noah Gold who is a public relations consultant and Dan Bruton who is a sports marketing executive and consultant. Here are some of the highlights from the event:

  • Sports marketing has evolved a lot in the past couple of years

  • Agency life is very chaotic but you learn how to deal with it

    • Noah Gold worked on the Super Bowl and a new action sports league

  • Sports marketing requires working a lot of weekends since that’s when a lot of events take place

  • Corporate life is different than agency life because you are working on projects for one client versus multiple

  • Athlete and sports marketing can be very powerful and have a large impact on the company

  • Key elements of getting into sports marketing is being proactive, inquisitive, research, and be ready

  • Sports marketing has a culture of hard work and fun

  • Use multiple types of marketing in a new industry

  • Need to be ready for challenges

  • There are a lot more opportunities than you think because it’s more than a team or big company

  • Networking is the best way to find a job in sports marketing

  • Make your presence felt at your first job

Thanks so much to our speakers and everyone who attended. We hope to see you at our next event which is Demystifying a Career in Tech Marketing on Thursday, May 1st at 12:30pm in KCBE 126. Please RSVP here, and we hope to see you there!
